Marc Levoy, professor of computer science and electrical engineering at Stanford University, leads a research team exploring news ways to empower everyday cameras with computational photography, which uses advanced algorithms and processing to take imaging far beyond simply replacing a camera’s film with a digital sensor. Levoy talks about his “Frankencamera” project, a fully programmable camera that embodies the ideal of capture devices that are open, and can be customized, expanded, and upgraded.

Workplace violence isn’t a pleasant topic, but especially now, with morale down in lots of businesses and many employees working harder for less money and little or no job security, it’s an issue that needs to be addressed.
